چکیده

This paper reports on WINDMash, a visual mashup environment to design interactive applications. WINDMash provides for teachers (end-user designer) a design environment so that they can design interactive applications based on geographical textual documents by themselves. The design process is divided into three successive facets: data, interface and interaction. The data facet enables the designer to create a processing chain in which the input of textual document may be processed by dedicated services (to automatically retrieve the geographical entities from a textual document and to tag them). The tagged information may then be presented to the designer thanks to visual components (e.g. text, map, and calendar). The designer may configure how the visual components display such tagged information thanks to the interface facet. Last, the interaction facet enables the designer to create interactions between visual components.

MarcoFlow: Modeling, Deploying, and Running Distributed User Interface Orchestrations

This paper introduces the idea of distributed orchestration of user interfaces (UIs), an application development approach that allows us to easily bring together UIs, web services, and people in a single orchestration logic, language, and tool. The tool is called MarcoFlow, and it covers three main phases of the software development lifecycle: design (by means of a dedicated, visual editor), de...

Social Software Modeling and Mashup based on Actors, Activities and Assets

Despite the extreme diversity of Web applications, one can find similarities among them. This paper proposes an answer to the question of knowing whether it is possible to conceptually represent different Web applications in a common manner such that they can generically be integrated in other Web applications. The 3A model developed at EPFL in the framework of the European PALETTE project is u...

Investigation of Mashups for Managers: SPS Case Study

Mashups are one of the latest growing examples of Web 2.0 concept. With mashups it is possible to collect different sources of data from the Web into one application, aggregate and present them to user in an interactive manner. They are easy to develop, and also less in terms of cost and time. This paper studies mashups as potential tools for managers from different aspects. Firstly, a deep inv...
